Things to look forward to this week:
Math- we will begin a unit on factors and multiples. Please, please be sure your child is learning their multiplication facts! Flashcards are a wonderful thing!
Reading- We will begin the novel Sounder today and we will also be heading to the Bedford Public library this week. If your child does not have a library card, please be sure to fill out a form so they are able to get one while we are there!
Writing- our focus this week will be descriptive writing, more specifically sensory details.
Class Dojo is up and running so hopefully you have all connected with our class so you are able to keep an eye on your child's behavior!

Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a fantastic spring break and enjoyed your time with your families!
This week in writing our students will be creating children's books! When we are finished, we will vote on the top 5 books and read them to a kindergarten class at Mason Elementary through Skype!
In Math, we will continue working on area of a trapezoid and irregular polygons. The students will have a quiz over area of a square, rectangle, triangle, parallelogram, trapezoid and irregular polygons on Tuesday, April 21st. They will need to have the different formulas memorized for this quiz.
In Reading, we are beginning a mystery novel, The Westing Game. This is a very entertaining novel and I think the students are really going to enjoy it!
Please be sure your child is reading at home each night.

Pi Week
We have some great activities we will be doing to celebrate Pi day- 3/14!
Your child will receive a handout today of the first 100 digits of pi. The student to memorize the most digits by Thursday at 12:30 will have the opportunity to smash a whipped cream pie in MY FACE! It should be a great time!
We will continue reading The Watsons Go To Birmingham in reading and also continue with our argument paragraph in writing.
No school for kids on Friday 3/13!
