2/24-2/28

Let's shoot for a whole week of school this week!!
Reading- we started reading one of my favorite novels, Watson's Go To Birmingham-1963!  This is a fantastic book that dates back to the civil rights movement.
Math- we are beginning to study statistical information.  We will continue with mean, median, and mode and finish the week with histograms.
Writing- Our opinion research is well on its way.  Your child will be writing a proposal letter to have their topics approved tomorrow and we will dive into opinion writing!

I look forward to being here 5 days and getting a lot completed!  Please make sure your child is completing their homework nightly and taking time to read an AR book at least 20 minutes a night.

Have a great week!

February 3-February 7th

Welcome to February!  Do you think we will get a full week of school in this week?  I am skeptical:)
When your child has a snow day, PLEASE make sure they are completing all homework they may have at home and also they are taking at least 20-30 minutes to read an AR book.

This week we will be starting some fun activities!
Reading- The students will be working on African American History Literacy Centers.  February is black history month and I am giving the students background knowledge to begin our next novel, The Watson's Go To Birmingham. (It is my favorite!)  Also make sure your child is studying their spelling and vocabulary each night to prepare for the quiz on Friday.
Writing- We are turning in our personal narratives today and beginning the genre of opinion and persuasive writing.
Math- The students will take a 2nd semester pretest and we will continue with percent operations.
